The School of Geography, Geology and Environment has worked with Holcim to develop and deliver this e-Learning short course in aggregate extraction in hard rock quarries. The program is only available to employees of Holcim and its group companies, and group access to the course will normally be organised and paid for at country or regional level. Individuals should therefore speak to their Learning and Development manager in the first instance.

Detailed Description

 

The program is designed to give an introduction to various aspects of aggregate hard rock mining, and comprises the following 7 courses:

• Quarrying Overview (permitting, geology, geotechnics, mine planning)
• Hard Rock Geotechnics
• Drilling and Blasting
• Extraction (hard rock and sand & gravel)
• Extraction (hard rock only)
• Fleet Management (sizing & matching, haul roads & hauling, maintenance, tyres & chains, traffic)
• Delivery to processing
