This test is designed to assess your English language ability with a view to gaining an unconditional offer for a University of Leicester pre-sessional English course.
Three parts of the Leicester Pre-sessional English Test are taken online and test your reading, writing and listening skills. A video interview will be arranged separately for the speaking test.

Please note before you buy the test that it is mostly an online test and your internet connection must be maintained for the duration of the exam. You must check that you have the following minimum system requirements needed to run the Test on your computer: Windows 2000/XP/Vista and Internet Explorer 6 or above (we recommend Internet Explorer 7)
Why take the Leicester Pre-sessional English Test?
You will have received a conditional offer to study for a pre-sessional English course at the University of Leicester and you now need to provide evidence of your English language ability. You can provide this evidence by passing the Leicester Pre-sessional English Test as an alternative to taking an IELTS test.
Who is the test for?
The test is only for applicants to the University of Leicester who have a conditional offer to study for a pre-sessional English course.
How long will the test take?
Each part of the online test is timed as follows:
Reading – 75 minutes
Writing – 30 minutes
Listening – 60 minutes
The speaking part takes place by a Skype interview and will last about 15 minutes.

Where can I take this test?
An online link will be sent to your email address within three working days of receipt of your payment. You can therefore take this test wherever you are in the world with internet access. Before you start, you will be asked to confirm that you agree to complete the test by yourself with no help from any other person, dictionary (electronic or paper), computer programme or other aid.
Can I use this test to obtain a Tier 4 visa?
No, this test is not designed for applicants who need a Tier 4 visa. If you pass the test and accept the unconditional offer, you will need to enter the UK on a short term study visa which has different conditions to a Tier 4 visa.
What next?
When you have purchased the test, you will be contacted by an administrator at the University of Leicester within 3 working days. You will then be sent further information and the online link to the test by email. You will also be contacted by a tutor to arrange the video interview.
If you pass the test, you will be sent an unconditional offer for the pre-sessional course within five working days.
