Beyond the Gaze: Launch Event #BtGlaunch2018
A one day conference event to launch findings of the Beyond the Gaze (BtG) research project, the largest study to date of UK internet based sex work in the UK. Participants will hear from a wide range of expert speakers from: academia, sex work community, policy, health and social care practice, take part in workshops linked to the research findings and have the opportunity to hear about several new resources based on Beyond the Gaze.
#BtGlaunch2018 will take place from 9.30-4.30, 23rd January 2018 at the Hacienda Suite, Holiday Inn Hotel, Manchester City Centre, Manchester.
Come along to this exciting event - the launch of the comprehensive findings from the Beyond the Gaze (BtG) participatory action research project, the largest study to date of UK internet based sex work in the UK. The project carried out by researchers at the Universities of Leicester and Strathclyde has been looking at how online and digital technology has impacted on the sex industry and at the working conditions, safety and regulation of internet based sex work in the UK. It has also explored how outreach and health services working with sex workers have responded to the needs of this sector and identified good practice. The event will be of interest to practitioners in a range of fields for example health, human rights, social care, sex work outreach and support projects, sexual violence services, criminal justice, police and many others. It will also be of interest to people working in the sex industry, policy makers, academics and researchers.

Date: The event is taking place on 23rd January 2018.

Time: Registration plus coffee and smoothies opens at 9.15 am with conference start at 10am and close at 4.30 pm.

What does the fee include?
As well as participation in the event the fee includes drinks on arrival, mid-morning refreshments, three course restaurant lunch buffet, afternoon refreshments and a conference pack. Free wifi is available at the event.
Accommodation: the conference fee does not include accommodation. number of rooms are available for delegates at a reduced rate of £109 for single occupancy and £119 for double occupancy at the Holiday Inn Manchester City Centre. Contact 01604 931560 to book rooms at this rate.
Access for wheelchair users: the conference is taking place on the basement floor which is accessible to wheelchair users via the lift. All rooms being used as part of the event have access for wheelchair users but do not have automatic doors, but we will have mobility assistants available on the day.
